The Chairman stressed that Section 93 Sub-section (111) (112) and (116) of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone mandated Members of Parliament (MP’s) to investigate and enquire any monies received for and on behalf of the people of Sierra Leone to establish whether they are utilized for their intended purposes.

Hon. Kombor Kamara therefore encouraged colleagues of the committee to ask relevant questions and raise concerns within the ambit of the law.

He maintained that the committee would be focused on having better understanding on several developments such as road completion, the quality standards of roads, percentages of job completion at various road constructions, variations of projects and other variables.

Hon. Kombor Kamara said as representatives of the people, they are also charged with the responsibility of monitoring, supervising and evaluating all roads, as well as every infrastructure development to enhance and promote sustainable national development.

The committee inspected major roads within the Western Urban Area as well as the Western Area Rural District, including the Wilkinson Road widening project of 5.2 Km, the ongoing road construction at Signal Hill, Jomo Kenyatta Road, Hill Cut Junction, Hillside Bye-Pass Road (Phase 1), Pademba Road and many others.
