Nseabong Charles Akpabio stated that road safety requires inter agency collaboration all over the world and reminded the audience about the position of the United Nations for member states to contribute in the reduction of road traffic crashes.

He said that the Sierra Leone government has set up the SLRSA to make sure that nobody dies on the roads and appealed to Road Safety Corps to conduct themselves well on duty and to be smartly dress at all times, adding, “nobody has immunity over a crash and the only way to reduce crashes was to obey the rules and regulations related to road safety”.

Nseabong Charles Akpabio encouraged Road Safety Corps to undertake robust and regular outreach programmes to communities, schools, mosques and churches and called for the popularization of the Emergency Toll Free Line 2244 so that members of the public could be aware of its existence, noting, “the 2244 if properly utilized could be used to generate road crash statistics”.

ACM Akpabio emphasized the determination of the Executive Director to move the Authority forward and entreated the Road Safety Corps and other staff of the Road Safety Authority endures as opportunities are on the way.

SLRSA Board Chairman, Reverend Michael Samura called on the Road Safety Corps to be an example and admonished them to put up the right attitude as the rebranding process is not just about change of uniform but change of attitude as well.

Dr. Sarah Finda Bendu, SLRSA Executive Director said that Nigeria is a model in term of road safety in Africa and expressed her determination to make the SLRSA an enviable organisation in the next few years.

Other members in the team included, the Human Resource Manager, Joseph Dauda, PRO Abdul Karim Dumbuya, Board Secretary, Sama Gamanga, Head of Transport, Lamin Koroma among others.
