According to the company’s General Manager, Kobi Walker, playing Squash delivers benefits that will aid academic excellence in the pursuits of knowledge among students.

He said it is the fervent belief of his company that sports plays an important role in educating students as it unifies them, while at the same time encourages diversity and harmony.

He stated that they had built similar courts at the Sierra Leone Grammar School, St. Edwards Secondary School and Bo Government Secondary School, adding, “We thought it expedient to build one at our darling FBC,” he said.

Walker noted that their CSR ambition is to positively impact on the lives and wellbeing of Sierra Leoneans, including generations yet unborn.

“We believe that combining sports in education can help students to develop a self-monitoring spirit to do things on their own. Sports remain the healthiest means of refreshment, recreation, unity, sacrifice and accountability,” he said.

In order to develop the game of squash in Sierra Leone, the NP General Manager announced that they will be hosting annual Squash competition for schools and colleges that will seek to develop and sharpen the squashing skills of Sierra Leoneans to excel at the highest level.

Deputy Vice Chancellor and Principal of FBC, Prof. Sahr T. Gbamanja, commended the company for reviving the game of squash and promised to make good use of the facility and also ensure maintenance.

“We are grateful for your support in this way. We need all kinds of sporting assistance. We appreciate it so much because it is timely and important,” he said and added that their link with NP is strategic.
