In a move to improve operational capacity, the National Revenue Authority (NRA) has commenced the distribution of 50 Honda XR 150 motorbikes to its Operational and Support divisions.

Of the new fleet, 10 motorbikes were allocated to the Customs Services Department, 11 to the Domestic Tax Department, 6 to the Non-Tax Revenue Department, and 23 to various support units.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mrs. Fredricka M. Kella, Director of Administration, explained that the effort is designed to boost mobility and enhance the Authority’s effectiveness in carrying out inspections and enforcing tax laws.

While distributing the motorbikes to customs staff, Deputy Commissioner of Customs Richard H. Senesie noted that the vehicles would be deployed to officers operating across key border posts. He reiterated the NRA’s dedication to modernising border controls, promoting legitimate trade, and ensuring full compliance with regulations.

John B. Amara, Assistant Commissioner for Border Controls and Management, commended the Commissioner General for her proactive leadership. He emphasised that the new motorbikes are expected to significantly cut response times, improve monitoring of cross-border movement, and help combat smuggling and illicit trade. Mr. Amara also pointed out that the initiative enhances officer safety, especially for staff working in remote and difficult-to-reach areas.

The NRA has signalled that it will continue introducing strategies to reinforce its operations and improve service delivery across the country.
