The training was held at Santa House, Howe Street in Freetown.
The chairperson of the Human Right Commission-Sierra Leone [HRCSL] Brima A Sherriff said that monitoring of human Rights in the business context is a promising concept in Sierra Leone that involves an in-depth knowledge by institution that will be engaged in monitoring process.
Commissioner Sherriff further stated that the mandate of HRCSL pursuant to section 7[2][f] of the Human Right Act is to ensure that capacities of stakeholders are built in a bid to monitor conformity of Human Rights standards and business environment.
The training facilitator, Live Jacob Sydness who work at OHCHR office in Geneva, stated that participants will be introduced to BHR field and the relevant international standards including the UN guiding principles on Business and Human Right that will equip them with the equipments and knowledge to apply these standards.
The course also include practical session with specific focus with case studies relevant to business impacts on human rights in Sierra Leone to ensure that participants respond o the actual needs on the ground.
