This, according to Ben Kaifala means that after the official declaration of assets upon assuming public office, the public official in question (be they a president, minister or other official in public office) must after leaving office within the shortest possible time make a declaration with the ACC about the assets he or she has acquired upon leaving office.
Asked whether this is a mandatory declaration, ACC Commissioner Ben Kaifala stated that “it is incumbent as the law provides for each and every public servant to declare his or her assets upon attaining public office and also upon leaving public office.”
However, with regard the former president Ernest Bai Koroma, he stated that he is yet to officially receive “an exit asset declaration” which he added, would go a long way to ascertain whether the former president acquired wealth in ways that are not ACC-friendly.
