In an interviewed with this medium however, Hon Ibrahim Rasin Bundu, Majority Leader and Head of Government Business who also doubles as the Chairman of the Committee on Appointments explained that committee members needed more time to properly scrutinize the presidential nominees based on the information they get from the public.
He added that the sudden death of Hon. Patrick Foryoh of Constituency 001 in Kailahun District was also a contributing factor for the postponement as it was right for the parliamentarians to mourn their falling colleague.
Hon. Bundu said they were impressed over concerns from the general public, noting that it was a clear show that the public was closely following activities in parliament.
He used the interview as an opportunity to call on the general public to fully participate in the process, as according to him, genuine concerns would help them make better decisions.
The Majority Leader said they conduct interviews based on what they receive from the public.
