P.C Kanneh wins Kenema District’s P.C-M.P election

Paramount Chiefs and Regent Chiefs of Kenema district have unanimously elected Paramount Chief Alameen Kanneh of Koya chiefdom as their next Paramount Chief Member of Parliament.

The development came after the demised of late Paramount Chief Member of Parliament Paramount Chief Alameen Kanneh of Koya chiefdom.

The Electoral College was drawn from all sixteen chiefdoms across the district and the seat was highly contested by three Paramount Chiefs, including P.C Alameen Kanneh of Koya chiefdom, P.C Momoh Sandi Forwai of Dama chiefdom and P.C Mohammed Sadiq Capuwa of Nongowa chiefdom.

P.C Alameen Kanneh got 12 votes out of 16, P.C Mahmoud Sadiq Capuwa got 3 votes while P.C Sandi Momoh Forwai got 1 vote. Therefore, P.C Kanneh was declared the winner haven scored the highest votes.

Before the election, all sixteen Paramount Chiefs committed to an agreement to accept the outcome of the results and build a unify force against whoever might want to go contrary.

P.C Kanneh now awaits the Nomination Day where Members of Council of Paramount Chiefs in Kenema will show their solidarity and support to their decision.

After the Nomination, if no other candidate comes up, P.C Kanneh automatically becomes the successor to his predecessor late P.C Foday Fabba Kpakra.

He pledged to embark on unity drive amongst Paramount Chiefs in Kenema district and to lobby development to all chiefdoms in the district.
