The following students received gifts for their outstanding participation and understanding in answering to objective questions after presentations by various speakers, including MPs, staff and civil society representative:

Claudia Redwood Sawyer,Davida Batty, Millicent Koiwa, Daisy Sesay , Doreenda Strasser Nicol of the Annie Walsh  Memorial Secondary School, Dauda Kabia of St. Edwards Secondary School and Musa Balla Marah from  Ahmadiyya Muslim Senior Secondary School.

Welcoming the students to Parliament, the Director of Legislative Services, and Mr. Cyril F. King appreciated the students for taking part in the Parliamentary outreach programme and thanked the Clerk of Parliament for supporting the outreach project.

Clerk of Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim Sesay on behalf of the Speaker and the Leadership of Parliament, congratulated the students for taking part in the innovative outreach programme on Parliament, noting its operations and functions. He said the outreach programme is geared towards understanding the objectives and functions of Parliament “by taking Parliament to the people”. The Clerk encouraged students to witness the activities of Parliament and promised to see that many schools are invited to Parliament on Parliamentary sittings.

The Director of Public Relations, Mr. Cyril Juxon-Smith said the presentation of gifts to students from these schools is to motivate those who scored the highest marks in the objective questions, hinging on parliamentary activities.

Mrs. Finda Fraser, Head of Parliamentary Assistance and Coordination Office and Madam Lakshmi Pillai, UNDP’s Technical Adviser to Parliament, presented the gifts to the students, whilst Dauda Kabia from St. Edwards Secondary School appreciated Parliament on behalf of his colleagues, through a vote of thanks.
