“When she raised this money she started tormenting me that we must do something to help less privilege kids have the opportunity to get somewhere they can go and play. With this her vision, I started working on it and finally we were able to put things together and started looking for a parcel of land where we can construct this playground,” Mrs. Amara-Bangali explained.
Jenneh went on to explain that it was for that reason that she went to Regent where she had discussions with some elders who led her to the St. Charles Parish Church. “I met with Rev. Canon Jenner Buck and he was excited about the idea and promised that the Church will provide the land for the project. Today it is now a reality that the project will kick-start and our Playground Foundation and the Church will jointly operate the playground when it is completed,” Jenneh explained.
The Director of Playground Foundation said they are now turning the sod to start construction and she believes this project will be a success as she has been raising funds and looking for partnership in the project. “Already I have been able to get CSE, Leocem and Africell to come on-board and support us and we believe that this first one will be difficult to complete, but when once we complete it then the rest will be done easily as people would have seen the first one and how helpful it would be in the community,” the Director stated.
She said they intend to build seven across the country including Goderich, Hamilton, around the Hastings area, Kamalo and Bo. She said this playground will have a garden, rock climbing, a six-a-side pitch and a library for the kids.
Mrs. Amara-Bangali said it would be purely for children and using some of this facilities organisations coming there will have to pay, so that they can raise funds for maintenance and to start building another one.
During the turning of the sod, members of St Charles Church were present and the Lay Reader of the Church Prince Morgan-Williams conducted a short service the Vicar’s Warden Mr Egerton Aboko-Cole perform the ceremony of turning the sod with Jenneh and her daughter Mary-Jay.
CSE were already present starting to grade the road and they promised to do more to make the project a success.
Mrs. Jenneh Bangali thanked the Parishioners present and said since the negotiation started, she has been given the support by the Church and she hope that they will continue to work as a family to make the project a success and they will administer it perfectly so that it will be of importance to the community and beyond.
Mrs. Jenneh Amara-Bangali was there with husband Jay-Jay, family friend Mr Abu Bangura, her Lawyer and Architect and her kinds to witness such an auspicious occasion.
