Police Inspector General visits Saudi Ambassador to Sierra Leone

The Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, paid a courtesy visit to the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Freetown. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen diplomatic ties between the Sierra Leone Police and the Embassy of Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, the two leaders engaged in discussions centred on enhancing security across Sierra Leone, emphasising the importance of mutual cooperation in effectively combating crime. Both parties reiterated their commitment to fostering continued collaboration and mutual support.

IGP Sellu outlined the Sierra Leone Police’s initiatives regarding personnel capacity building, including requests for training opportunities related to forensic analysis and other areas. He also briefed the ambassador on ongoing reforms within the Sierra Leone Police as the Force transitions into a service-oriented institution.

In response, His Excellency Ambassador Ali Ibrahim Alheji praised the Sierra Leone Police for their tireless efforts in maintaining security despite global security challenges. He expressed appreciation for police leadership and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s willingness to support bilateral relations. The ambassador also requested a visit to the Police Academy to explore potential areas of intervention, emphasising his commitment to strengthening cooperation for personnel development.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of a gift as a token of appreciation, honouring the police chief’s commendable performance and dedication to public service.
