The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has issued a firm directive to all registered political parties, instructing them to immediately remove all banners, posters, and other forms of campaign materials currently displayed in public spaces.

In a press release dated July 4, 2025, the Commission made it clear that the ongoing internal elections within political parties are not to be treated as national electoral campaigns. As such, all campaign-related materials must be confined strictly to the premises of party offices across the country.

“The Commission wishes to remind all political parties that internal elections are an internal democratic process and should not be mistaken for a national electoral campaign,” the statement read.

The PPRC further warned that any party found in violation of this directive will face strict enforcement measures.

“Failure to adhere to this instruction will leave the Commission with no option but to ask the Sierra Leone Police and Local Government Councils across the country to remove those campaign materials,” the release warned.

The directive applies to all party leaders, members, and candidates currently contesting for positions in their respective internal party elections.

This move by the PPRC is seen as an effort to maintain public order and avoid unnecessary political tension outside the official electoral calendar.
