His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has embarked on a diplomatic mission to Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, to partake in the grand festivities marking the 50th Independence Anniversary and Armed Forces Day of the nation.

Originally slated for September 24, 2023, the celebrations were rescheduled to November 16, 2023, aligning with the official anniversary date.

President Bio’s presence at this significant event underscored the robust bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau, highlighting Sierra Leone’s dedication to promoting regional unity and cooperation.

During his visit, President Bio engaged in various official activities, including participating in a majestic military parade showcasing Guinea-Bissau’s armed forces and immersing himself in a cultural extravaganza spotlighting the nation’s vibrant artistic heritage.

The agenda also included crucial bilateral discussions with President Umaro Sissoco Embalo, focusing on mutual interests and exploring avenues to fortify the bonds between the two nations.

Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau, with a history steeped in camaraderie and collaboration, reaffirm their commitment to deepening their partnership, working collaboratively toward a promising future for the West African region.

President Bio returned to Freetown yesterday Thursday, November 16, 2023.
