Sierra Leone’s President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has revealed details of a critical meeting held during the 79th United Nations General Assembly with the World Bank President, Ajay Banga.
President Bio said: “On the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly, I engaged in a constructive discussion with Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank Group. Our dialogue focused on enhancing energy access, tackling food insecurity, augmenting budget support, and promoting women’s empowerment. I commend the World Bank President for the significant reforms he is spearheading and for the new Global Challenge Programs, which align with my Government’s Medium-Term National Development Plan (2024-2030). As a designated champion of the IDA21 advocacy, I am committed to advocating for a more robust IDA21 replenishment”.
Additionally, President Bio reaffirmed his commitment to the International Development Association (IDA21) replenishment efforts, stating: “As a designated champion of the IDA21 advocacy, I am committed to advocating for a more robust IDA21 replenishment.”
The meeting underscores Sierra Leone’s ongoing engagement with international partners to address critical developmental challenges.
