The current location of the All People’s Congress (APC) party headquarters in Freetown is becoming increasingly contentious, particularly given its proximity to several schools.
Educational institutions such as the Freetown Secondary School for Girls, St. Joseph’s Convent, St. Anthony Primary School, and others nearby often bear the brunt of violence and unrest whenever tensions flare within or around the party office.
Political skirmishes and disruptions over the years have caught students and staff in the crossfire, resulting in many casualties. These violent outbreaks seriously jeopardize the safety and well-being of schoolchildren and educators, prompting questions about the appropriateness of keeping such a significant political center in close proximity to educational institutions.
Relocating the APC party office to a less sensitive area, away from schools and residential neighborhoods, would help safeguard the community. This would guarantee that students can concentrate on their education without worrying about political disturbances, and the area would revert to a safer and more favorable learning environment.
As political activities intensify, the safety of schoolchildren must remain a top priority, and finding a suitable alternative location for the APC office is essential to maintaining peace and security in this part of the city.
