The QNET VCON Webinar organised for Sierra Leonean journalists on August 14, 2025 has revealed the company’s extensive stakeholder engagement and anti-scam efforts.

Speaking at the lively webinar aimed to educate Sierra Leonean journalists about the company’s true nature, product offerings, and impacts, Lawyer Naana Quartey, QNET’s Global Compliance Officer revealed that: “As a company we have been engaging many critical stakeholders here in Sierra Leone. We have on many occasions engaged security agencies including the police. We are trying to make them understand our business model and collaborate with them in our anti-scam efforts.” The QNET VCON webinar was part of a broader effort to dispel misconceptions and build trust with media and stakeholders.
Veteran Sierra Leonean journalists who previously travelled to QNET’s headquarters in Malaysia shared their enriching experiences, including attending the globally renowned VCON Malaysia—a gathering of entrepreneurs, government officials, and media focused on innovation, empowerment, and social impact. These firsthand accounts helped validate QNET’s commitment to transparency and positive social contributions.
Aaron Parker, Editor of Sierraloaded explained how conversations with senior management clarified QNET’s challenges in Sierra Leone and highlighted efforts to combat scams through campaigns like “QNET Against Scams.”
Other journalists expressed a new understanding of QNET’s legitimate operations and acknowledged that misconceptions often persist due to lack of information. Naana Quartey, QNET’s Global Compliance Officer, shared ongoing efforts to engage with government officials, law enforcement, and community leaders to uphold the company’s integrity and differentiate it from illicit actors.
This webinar not only improved perception but also laid the foundation for stronger collaboration with Sierra Leonean media. A journalist from one of the provinces expressed optimism: “I believe QNET’s message will reach the hinterlands in Sierra Leone and local media will be utilised to spread the media. We are ready and willing to help in spreading the truths about the real QNET.”
