Queen Elizabeth II Academy holds tenth graduation ceremony

[Mrs. Koroma who is the Assistant Director pointed out that they are always available to work and support the school addressing the graduands, pupils in Nursery Three and Class Six, she called on them to avoid bad friends and to inculcate good manners.

She urged them to study hard so that they will make the grades and acquire the educational standards that they aspire to.

She called on the parents and guardians to give all the facilities, resources and support to their children and wards so that they can get the education that they want.
Earlier in welcoming the pupils, parents, guardians and guests to the ceremony, the Administrator, Mr. Abu Bakarr Mansaray, said he was very happy to see them at the school premises. He paid special tribute to the Founders and Proprietors of the Queen Elizabeth 11 Academy, Mr. and Mrs. Alie O. Bangura for what he described as their selflessness, courage and love for the people of the Kissy community. He noted that over the ten years that the Queen Elizabeth 11 Academy has been in existence they have graduated thousands of young men and women, most of whom have acquired higher education and are now working in and out of the country. He revealed that the school currently has close to five hundred children. He also revealed that their teachers are all trained and qualified and highly motivated as they are well paid and catered for.

Mr. Mansaray also disclosed that they run a bus service that takes children from their homes to the school and return them home every school day.

He appealed to Sierra Leoneans as well as foreign nationals to send their children to the school as they provide high quality education.

He said that they have a Day Care Centre, Nursery, Primary and Junior Secondary Schools and that very soon they are going to have a Senior Secondary School.

Mr. Mansaray also disclosed that they are doing very well in the National Primary School Examination (NPSE) and the Basic Elementary Certificate Examination (BECE).

In an interview with the Co-Founder and Proprietor of the Queen Elizabeth 11 Academy, Mr. Alie O. Bangura, popularly known as Alie Orkebs, he revealed that while in London, he and his wife, Mariatu, got inspired to establish the school in Kissy as a way of giving back to the community in which they were born and raised.

He noted that over the ten years that the school has been in the community, they have positively impacted the lives of the community people and brought education to their doorsteps.
He stressed that education is a passion to him and his wife and that they find pleasure in helping children to get empowered Most community people that this newspaper spoke with, stated that the school is a God sent. They maintained that they will support the school to bring enlightenment to their children and emancipate them from the slavery of ignorance. They described Mr. Alie Orkebs and his wife, Mariatu, as courageous, selfless and God fearing people who deserve to be recognised and appreciated by the people of this country.
