Sierra Leone’s second city of Bo has witnessed another grand opening of a new banking outlet by Rokel Commercial Bank to serve its growing number of customers in that city.

The bank’s new outlet in the commercially viable cosmopolitan city is another testament of RCBank’s ambitious expansion and growing dominance in the country’s financial sector. Apparently, the outlet has become the first to be established by any commercial bank in Sierra Leone.

Prince Williams Street, located on the fringes of the central business district of Bo was the scene that played host to a short but impressive opening ceremony that attracted a galaxy of eminent personalities within and outside the municipality. Prominent among them was Dr Momodu Yillah, a renowned medical doctor at the Bo Government Hospital who recounted how the bank had bailed out the hospital at a certain time when the hospital was in serious crisis and could not function effectively to address the healthcare needs of residents. He also emphasized that the bank, being an indigenous financial institution offering cutting edge financial services deserves to be supported by all and sundry at all times.

Managing Director, Rokel Commercial Bank, Dr Walton Ekundayo Gilpin underscored how banking contributes to accelerated economic growth, emphasizing that other key economic variables like a quality human resource base must be equipped with virtues like honesty, dependability, committment, diligence and perseverance. Gilpin commended the people of Bo City for their remarkable contribution to the growth and development of the Rokel Commercial Bank. He reassured all present of his bank’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion and financial literacy in Sierra Leone.

Delivering the Keynote Address on behalf of the Governor of the Central Bank, a senior Director, Morlai Kamara said the Central Bank has always laid emphasis on Commercial banks having a healthy financial systems and said he was hopeful that the RCBank would continue to exceed expectations.

Bishop Mark Ngobeh from the Methodist Church of Sierra Leone was joined by the Mayor of Bo City, Harold Tucker, and Dr Momodu Yillah to unveil the new outlet which was dedicated to the Chairman of the Rokel Commercial Bank Board of Directors Chairman, Buffy Bailor.
