The 100 meter bridge straddling the Rokel River which has a load capacity of forty (40) meters with an average speed of thirty (30) kilometer per hour is in a very poor condition due to the post war dilapidations and lack of maintenance by the appropriate authorities.
The bridge pillars have grown weeds and iron the bars that supposed to protect pedestrian have covered with rust and dust, with several hazardous bending towards the traffic lane; the archaic bricks on the pedestrian side of the bridge have been collapsed.
Pedestrians put their lives at risk while attempting to cross on foot in the midst of the heavy loaded trucks. In spite of the standstill saga, mini vans, taxis, and private vehicles are saluted by petty traders across the bridge with series of local commodity by saying “You don buy Plum? Ah Get the sweet Cassava!” among other fine vegetables on both sides of the bridge.
