The charge sheet indicated that the accused person, Major Musa Bangura allegedly committed the said offence at Benguema Barracks, sometime in July 2018, and pleaded not guilty to the offence.

In his plea of mitigation, counsel representing the accused person, A.S. Pombeh canvassed the presiding magistrate to admit his client to bail, as the accused person is not a flight risk.

He further canvassed that the accused person, Major Musa Bangura is a resident within the Freetown Judicial District and has reliable and credible surety or sureties who are ready and willing to enter into recognizance of his behalf.

Lawyers A.S. Pombeh further stated that if the accused person is admitted to bail, he will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses and that the accused person will always come to court on every adjourned date.

However, the Police Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP Erick Deen objected to bail on the grounds that the charge preferred against the accused person, Major Musa Bangura is a very serious one.

After listening and perusing the submission from both the prosecution and the defense, the presiding Magistrate Santigie Bangura ordered that the accused person be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre at Pademba road in Freetown.

The matter comes up again.
