In his speech, High Commissioner Yadav said on 26th January, 2018 India celebrated its 69th Republic Day and even as it is being celebrated in Sierra Leone on 28th January, he was very happy to be in Sierra Leone because of the strong relationship between India and Sierra Leone.
High Commissioner Yadav said they have to take the country ahead with the determination of creating a ‘New India’ and they must work to build a country which is clean, healthy and is self-determined.
He said as they continue to work assiduously to build India, they must not lose focus of Sierra Leone where they are been doing business over the years. “I want you all to continue to support the government of Sierra Leone and make sure you obey all the laws of the land and continue to employ more Sierra Leoneans in your business.”
He averred that India is working to improve and expand relationship with African Countries and Sierra Leone will be very important in that drive. High Commissioner Yadav called on all Indians to remember that it is only when peace and stability is around that their business ventures would thrive.
The High Commissioner praised the Indian citizens in Sierra Leone for making such a celebration so powerful by bringing in the revered and high profile Kathak Classical Dance group to Sierra Leone to join in the celebration. He also commended the Sierra Leonean team that performed so well the Indian dance and song.
High Commissioner Yadav applauded the dignitaries who were present and said he knew it is because of the good relationship between them and their Indians colleagues that brought them to Radisson Blue to join in the celebration.
Giving the keynote address was Minister of Tourism Mr. Sidi Yaya Tunis, who said for decades now Indians have been in Sierra Leone helping to build the country’s economy.
“I would want to say that I am happy to have been invited to witness such a high quality performance by the Kathak Classical Dance group. They are phenomenal and remember that during our schools days we all know Amitab, Mithum, Dhamendra etc. Indian movies were and still popular in Sierra Leone, which means the two countries has been together for a long time.”
Mr. Tunis said because of the economic activities of the Indians over the years, the government has been very confident that they will continue to do more in the tourism sector.
He thanked all the Indians that have built factories and are in tourism to continue to do more as they will always have the government’s protection when it is necessary. Mr. Tunis said as Tourism Minister he is open to them anytime if they have ideas and plans to invest in tourism in the country.
