Reports indicate that thunder had earlier damaged the old transformer, much to the dissatisfaction of management, staff and residents of Port Loko, Northern Sierra Leone, in particular.

It was against such backdrop that SALWACO’s Station Manager in Port Loko, Ing. Hamid A. Kamara communicated with the SALWACO leadership to see that the problem of the non-functional transformer was fixed and in the best interest of company policy, which is to provide safe drinking water for people.

In a similar vien, Ing. Hamid and team had earlier engaged stakeholders like the Resident Minister North, City Mayor, Council Chairman, the leadership of EDSA in Port Loko and a number of other engineers to see that the transformer problem was looked into with a thrust to address same.

On getting the new transformer, Ing. Hamid is quoted as saying ‘I am very thankful and grateful to extend since gratitude to our Managing Director, Ing.  George Lamin Vandi and his Deputy, Apostle Dr. Albert Harrisson Harvey, for their strategic leadership roles in getting this done. The supply and installation of a new transformer at the Port Loko Treatment Plant is a step in the right direction. I also wish to thank all colleagues from HQ that played curial roles in making this dream a reality. We all make a judicious usage of this.’

He added that improved water service delivery which is sustainable is very paramount and possible through reliable energy supply.

SALWACO has continued to pride itself in providing water for people and such recent development is a clear affirmation of meeting the said target.
