In a mini Cabinet reshuffle President Koroma appointed new ministers of foreign affairs and information. Former Central Bank Governor, Dr. Kaifala Marah who doubles as former All People’s Congress (APC) Party aspirant for the 2018 presidential candidacy, is now the new Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation.

Another former aspirant of the APC for the same position, Dr. Alpha Kanu is back as the government’s Minister of Information and Communications.

Two other presidential aspirants have also been brought in as presidential advisers, Dr. Joseph Sam Sesay and Alimamy P. Koroma. Former Information Minister, Mohamed Bangura has been sacked, whiles Alfred Palo Conteh is back as Defense Minister replacing former Defense Minister Abdul Rahman Kamara who is now Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.

Also, Retired United States Major Sengu Koroma, a former deputy now appointed Internal Affairs Minister.

Many Sierra Leoneans have reacted to the reshuffle dismissively calling it an old wine in a new bottle. Some others say it is an attempt to calm the ‘choppy’ political waters following the controversial national delegates’ conference of the ruling party which left a groundswell of discontent.
