Candidate, Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara has extended a heartfelt message of congratulations to U.S. President, Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 45th President of the United States.
In a statement, Dr. Kamara expressed his admiration for the enduring strength of American democracy, describing Trump’s leadership as a symbol of hope and freedom.
Dr. Samura Kamara said: “On behalf of the people of Sierra Leone and in my personal capacity, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency on your inauguration as the 45th President of the United States of America”.
He emphasised the United States’ critical role in promoting global peace, stability and democratic values. “Your presidency comes at a pivotal time for stopping the unprecedented erosion of democracy in many parts of the globe. I am optimistic that under your leadership, the United States will continue to champion, defend, and restore the ideals of democratic rights, equality and justice,” he added.
Highlighting the shared history between Sierra Leone and the United States, Dr. Kamara expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of bilateral relations. He called for active U.S. engagement in addressing global challenges, including electoral injustice in smaller nations like Sierra Leone.
“This historic moment reflects the enduring strength of American democracy,” he said. “The longstanding ties between Sierra Leone and the U.S. will continue to flourish under your leadership, fostering greater courage to stand together against the abuse of democratic governance rather than yielding to it.”
Dr. Kamara concluded his message with warm wishes for President Trump’s success, wisdom, and compassion in navigating the challenges of leadership. “May you be guided by wisdom, courage, and compassion as you lead the great people of the United States,” he stated.
