A Report: Sierra Leone Out-of School study identified high pregnancy rate amongst primary and secondary school children as a strong contributing factor to children dropping out of school.

The donation according to the Coordinator is also to strengthen the relationship with the Directorate of Non-Formal Education to enroll more girls who are school drop-outs since 2014 after the Ebola epidemic.

Mr. Kamara disclosed that the institution is recognized and approved by the Ministry of Education, adding it was established to conduct capacity building for girls who drop-out of school because of pregnancy or lack of funding.

“We enroll primary, junior and senior secondary school drop-outs but we mainly cater for primary school drop-outs,” Kamara said; adding that they emphasize on school drop-outs to demonstrate that pursuing education has to do with determination and perseverance.

According to Kamara since 2014 they have been enrolling girls that drop out of school into normal school, adding that the girls learn skills like catering, soap making, driving among others.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries Ramatu Kargbo commended the Ministry of Education for the donation. She disclosed that she dropped out of school because of pregnancy during her primary education.

She however urged other girls that have dropped-out of school for different reasons to put their history at their back and determine to carry on with their education “because it is only through education can our lives be made better,” she added.
