Sierra Leone’s newly appointed Deputy Ambassador to Brussels, Belgium, Madam Asmaa James, who is all set to take up office soonest, has assured Sierra Leone that she will give all her best in her new capacity to the development of Sierra Leone.

Amb. James said: “It is a great honor and privilege to have been appointed by His Excellency, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, to the esteemed position of Deputy Ambassador to The Kingdom of Belgium. I am humbled by this incredible opportunity to serve our nation and to contribute to diplomacy on the global stage. This appointment reinforces my commitment to public service and inspires me to continue striving for excellence in this esteemed role.

“I pledge to work closely with our team in Brussels, representing our country with the utmost respect, diligence, and professionalism. I will work tirelessly to maintain and strengthen the bond between our two nations. I extend my sincere thanks to the members of Parliament for their unanimous approval of my appointment and for their kind recognition of my work over the years.

“To my family, friends, and all those who have supported and believed in me, I offer my heartfelt thanks. Your unwavering support has been instrumental, and I am deeply touched by your kind congratulatory messages, prayers, and words of encouragement. A special thank you to my supporters worldwide and to my amazing colleagues in the media, whose exemplary support has contributed significantly to my personal and professional growth. I look forward to continuing our collaboration. In a few weeks, I will depart the shores of Sierra Leone with a heart full of pride and gratitude. As I prepare for this important diplomatic mission to Brussels, I carry with me the hope and dedication that will guide my work in representing our nation”.

Parliament recently approved Amb. James as the country’s Deputy Ambassador to Brussels, Belgium.

Until her appointment recently by President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, Ambassador Asmaa James was a practicing Journalist, a senior radio host, a renowned gender and human rights activist and a philanthropist.

She has an experience of over 20 years in broadcast journalism and management. Her mindful but objective approach has resulted in historic contributions to strengthening democratic governance in Sierra Leone and the continent.
