The Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police, Chief, William Fayia Sellu has welcomed the Director of the Guinea Military Staff College, Colonel Louis Remy Camara and team into the country, informing them that Sierra is lucky to have two good neighbours like Guinea and Liberia.

Addressing the Guinean Team, who is in the country for follow up visit of a study tour of their students, Mr. Sellu stated that Sierra Leone and Guinea have a long standing relationship that can be traced far back independent days.

Sierra Leone and Guinea been colonised by two different colonial master he said did not stop the bond they shared.

He recalled support, especially rescuing, received from Guinea when the country was faced with several coup after Independent.

“Guinea came in to support in relation to other countries that form ECOMOG that is how we have always been. Even as we are talking, we continue enjoying support from your activities in helping us out there in many terms” said the Police Chief.

He expressed optimism that the relationship continues on such a trend, noting that the Sierra Leone Police is also looking for an opportunity to visit their Guinean counterpart to see how they are policing.

On the INTERPOL front, Guinea he said is their best partner in the Sub Region disclosing that they have always got what they want from Guinea working with their INTERPOL partners.

Head of the Delegation, Colonel Louis Remy Camara, discloses that their purpose of visit to Sierra Leone was a follow up trip for the schedule training of their first degree aggregate school.

The main objective he said is to have knowledge of the civilian and military institutions of Sierra Leone, while recalling assistance provided by Sierra Leone during their fuel explosion crisis.

“You really helped us by sending a rescue team”, said Colonel Camara.

The two countries, he added have a close collaboration in the UN Peacekeeping operations and above all have close relationship for which Sierra Leone was chosen as the first country for their staff College to visit.
