Sierra Leone Reporters Union unveils 2 Presidential Candidates

The Sierra Leone Reporters’ Union has unveiled two Presidential Candidates for its forthcoming Presidential Election.

Samuel Ibrahim Koroma aka Prezo Koroma, working for the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media and Yeanor Esther Kabia, working for Radio Democracy FM 98.1 are giving each other a run for the seat, succeeding Amadu Lamrana Bah formerly of AYV.

Samuel Ibrahim Koroma is an all-rounder who has both worked as a print and broadcast journalist with a wealth of professional knowledge in journalism spanning for over a decade.

Samuel is no stranger in the Journalism landscape of Sierra Leone, as a Mass Communication student in his early years of practice, Samuel has risen through the ranks from a cub reporter to a senior reporter and lead script editor to senior radio and Television presenter on the most watched television program Wake Up Sierra Leone on AYV Channel 33 and on DSTV Channel 399.

Samuel has been very instrumental in supporting colleague journalists within and outside his media outlet AYV.   In his reportage, Samuel has demonstrated professionalism on and off-set, and stands as one of the smartest journalists who have demonstrated an unmatched aptitude and dexterity in the dispensing of his duty.

His co-contender, Yeanor Esther Kabia, born and raised in Freetown, has embarked on her journalism career at Culture Radio 104.5, where she cultivated a deep-seated passion for storytelling.

Currently a distinguished reporter, presenter, and producer at Radio Democracy 98.1 FM, Yeanor plays a pivotal role in disseminating critical information on governance, democracy, human rights, and rule of law issues in Sierra Leone.

Beyond her journalistic prowess, Yeanor Kabia is a catalyst for change and empowerment in her community. She serves as the Outreach and Partnership Coordinator at Strong Girls Evolution, a leading organization dedicated to raising awareness about gender equality, leadership, career development, and essential skills building among young women.

Yeanor’s commitment to advancing journalism and advocating for fellow reporters is further exemplified by her candidacy for the Presidency of the Sierra Leone Reporters Union.
