Sierra Leone’s Public Accounts Committee Members at 2025 AFROPAC Conference

A delegation from Sierra Leone’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is actively participating in the 2025 African Organisation of Public Accounts Committees (AFROPAC) Conference and General Meeting, held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, from March 17 to 21, 2025.

This year’s conference is centred on the theme: “Strengthening Legislative Action to Combat Illicit Financial Flows and Foster Public Financial Resilience.” Over five days, discussions will focus on key topics, including:

An overview of major trends in illicit financial flows (IFFs) and public finance in Africa.

Innovative strategies to combat IFFs.

Strengthening state institutions for a more effective fight against IFFs.

Addressing public finance challenges in the region.

During the conference, Hon. Aaron Aruna Koroma, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, emphasized the challenges surrounding loan negotiations. He urged AFROPAC to develop a framework that grants regional parliaments the opportunity to review and contribute to loan agreements before they are presented for ratification.
