The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) have reaffirmed their commitment to national security through enhanced collaboration during a one-day workshop held at the Wizard Complex in Bo City on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

The workshop, part of a broader initiative to foster inter-agency cooperation, aims to strengthen ties among security forces across the country. It marks a renewed effort to enhance joint operations, information sharing, and community-based security strategies.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), Sahr Yomba Senesi, representing the Inspector General of Police, highlighted the longstanding collaboration between the SLP and RSLAF, particularly during the civil war and in its aftermath. He referenced their joint efforts in tackling rebel insurgencies, curbing cross-border crime, and facilitating disarmament and reintegration processes.

“Over the years, our partnership played a critical role in preserving national security,” DIGP Senesi stated. “Though we witnessed a slowdown in inter-agency engagement around 2010, this workshop is part of a renewed nationwide effort to revitalize that collaboration.”

He further noted that under the leadership of Inspector General William Fayia Sellu and Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Amara Idara Bangura, the scope of the initiative has now expanded to include the Sierra Leone Correctional Services and the Sierra Leone Fire Force—reflecting a more inclusive approach to national security.

Brigadier General SDT Ngaujah, Chief of General Staff, who represented the Chief of Defence Staff, reiterated the Armed Forces’ commitment to national development and a secure future. He emphasized that similar training and joint workshops will be conducted in other regions, reinforcing inter-agency cooperation at all levels.

The event marks a significant step in rebuilding and strengthening the operational synergy among Sierra Leone’s security institutions to ensure peace and stability across the country.
