The ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) is gearing up for its National Delegates Conference slated for May 23–24, 2025, in Kenema City. This announcement was made after a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting that took place at the Party Headquarters on January 18, 2025, where the party agreed on a timetable for executive elections and the upcoming conference.

A notice from the party secretariat has communicated to members about the election processes designed to appoint executive leaders across various levels, including sectional, zonal, chiefdom, constituency, district, regional, and national. This structural strategy aims to boost effective governance within the party.

The official notice from the party secretariat highlighted key pre-conference activities. Among these are the National Young Generation Conference, slated for March 15, 2025, in Bo District, to select the National Young Generation Council Executive. Furthermore, the National Women’s Council Elections are scheduled for March 22, 2025, in Pujehun District to appoint the National Women’s Leader and Deputy National Women’s Leader.

After these events, the NEC is anticipated to convene, verify, and publish the list of delegates eligible to vote for national executive members, adhering to the 21-day timeline set by the Supreme Court ruling in the Alie Bangura case.

The party explained that it is championing consensus-building as the preferred method for sectional and zonal elections. Adding that in the case where consensus cannot be reached, elections will be conducted, with voting reserved for fully registered and dues-paying members in the respective areas.

Also, a careful validation and verification process is set to be overseen by local authorities to ensure fairness. Voter lists will be displayed at election venues two days prior to voting and submitted to the National Secretariat. Only those verified will be able to cast their votes.

The National Secretary General, Umaru Napoleon Koroma urged party members to engage actively by registering and ensuring their names are properly validated. He expressed heartfelt thanks for their cooperation, stressing the importance of a transparent and democratic election process.
