Speaker of Sierra Leone Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas has pledged Fifty Thousand New Leones and Hundred Bags of Cement as part of his support to the Christ the King College school fencing project.
The Executive of the Christ the King College Old Boys Association, led by the President of (COBA) Mohamed Bangali paid a courtesy call on the Speaker as one of their Senior Alumni of the Christ the King College.
On behalf of the COBA Executive, President Bangali congratulated the House Speaker on his historic election as Speaker of the Sierra Leone Parliament. He reminded the Speaker that November is Kings Week, and November 18th-24 are the days slated for celebrating Kings Week. President Bangali assured Speaker Thomas that a number of activities are lined up, of which the House Speaker had been widely recognized as the Keynote Speaker on the Prize-giving and Speech day, followed by the COBA Dinner on November 24th, 2024.
The COPA executive also requested the House Speaker to join his school for a match pass in Bo. President Bangali also updated the House Speaker that the School Association had commenced to undertake development progress, such as the school fencing. He also disclosed that COBA had secured thirty-two acres of land, adding that the land is under threat through encroachment by the community people.
He noted that, as a school, they did not want to go to court or engage in any fight with the community people, which was the reason they initiated the fencing project.
President Bangali continued that the project’s first phase is projected at One Hundred Million thirty thousand New Leones. He called for a concerted effort from all the school stakeholders to fence the school, adding that no beautification could be done on the school premises if the land is not secured.
He concluded by assuring the House Speaker that the Kings Week would commence on the 18th November. He also reassured Speaker Thomas that the regalia would be available and a special delivery of the regalia would be made to the House Speaker of Parliament.
Speaker Thomas appreciated the team for reaching out and for the reminder about the Kings Week, which would commence on the 18th November, 2024. He assured the delegation that he would avail himself for the event.
Speaker Thomas graciously accepted the invitation to serve as the keynote speaker for this year’s Kings Week Celebration.
