Secretary General, BINSU encouraged  participants to treat the competition with all seriousness as the competition  will serve as a boost to their academic work, while pointing out the significance of the competition for the growth of education in that part of the country. He further stated that the union has been working to revive the spelling culture in the country.

“If you can spell, you can read, if you can read you can write and if you can read and write it means you have acquired education that is why we are organizing the spelling bee and quiz competition annually on June 16.” Saidu Kargbo confirmed.

He reiterated that they were welcoming strangers in their community via spelling contest, a tradition he said has been fading in our society.

Director of Education, BINSU Augusta Koroma pleaded with both parents and teachers to continue their good work they have been doing with their children, while claiming that a better future of any nation would be through the support of education. She affirmed that it was education that had took them to where they are.

Augusta Koroma explained that poverty could be reduce in our society through education and that their union was very much committed to support the young generation in the educational aspect.

Delivering the key note address, Honorable Member of parliament for constituency 85, Veronica Kadie Sesay applauded the union for such gesture and called on other institution to follow suit in promoting education in the country. She further called on the pupils to embrace education and that happened to be a substantive means of future development of this nation, she noted.

Awards were presented to children at the end of the competition, which saw the jubilation of pupils, teachers and parents at the end of the competition.
