Sunday Foundation on education empowerment

He said his daughter started her kind gesture for girls at the age of eight adding that the school project emanated from the donations made by her daughter and members of the foundation. He continued by applauding the contributions made by the traditional heads in the establishment of the school, as a result of that Sander De Kramer presented to the chiefs a computer, a camera a radio and a trophy.

Principal of the school, Josephine Kamara said the school has made tremendous progress since it was established in 2013. Madam Kamara said pupils from the school sat the Basic Education Certificate Examination for the first time in 2016, and all the forty-eight candidates who sat the Basic Education Certificate Examination got requirements into Senior Secondary School. She furthered that her school was among a few notable schools in the country that received a prestigious award for academic excellence.

One of the proprietors of the Sunday Foundation School, Mohamed Foday Kamara said that the organization focuses on girls because most girls dropped out of school as a result of unwanted pregnancy and confronted with societal challenges. He said that there are more chances for boys to educate then girls, as girls are confronting with several distraction in the process of attaining their education.

Member of Parliament for Constituency thirty-seven at Magbema Chiefdom in the Kambia District, Patricia Umu Bangura expressed appreciation over the project. Honorable Patricia Bangura added that the achievement of the girls will go a long way in changing the mentality of parents who subjected their children at an early age into the bondo society and early marriage.  The event was climaxed with the presentation of certificates.

The inauguration was graced by a delegation from Holland, headed by the founder of the school Sander De Kramer, Members of Parliament, Traditional Leaders and other societal stakeholders.
