In a decisive move to bolster security at the Youyi Building, the Minister of Lands, Housing and Country Planning, Dr. Turad Senesie, has officially introduced a vehicle pass system, aimed at curbing the rising incidents of vehicle theft within the compound.

This initiative follows a series of thefts that have raised concerns among staff and visitors alike.

Understanding the urgency of the situation, Minister Senesie, a former police officer, consulted with the Inspector General of Police (IG) to explore effective security measures.

The IG endorsed the minister’s proposal, leading to the swift implementation of the vehicle pass system.

On the morning of Tuesday, October 22, Dr. Senesie personally launched the initiative, conducting on-the-spot training for security personnel stationed at the entrance and exit points of the building. This hands-on approach underscores the minister’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all individuals accessing the facility.

Under the new system, drivers are required to leave their identification cards at the gates upon entry. In return, they will receive unique coded cards that serve as both entrance and exit passes. Before exiting the building with their vehicles, drivers can reclaim their identification cards, creating a controlled and secure environment.

“This vehicle pass system is a proactive step towards safeguarding the property of our staff and visitors,” said Minister Senesie. “We believe that by implementing these measures, we can significantly reduce the risk of vehicle theft and enhance the overall security of the Youyi Building.”

The minister encourages all individuals accessing the Youyi Building to cooperate with the new system and to remain vigilant against suspicious activities. The vehicle pass system is expected to be a significant deterrent to theft and will contribute to a safer and more secure environment for everyone.
