Amid heightened concerns over Mpox in Sierra Leone’s border districts, the Kailahun District Health Management Team (DHMT) held a significant educational session, aimed to educate traditional healers on recognising Mpox symptoms, including the telltale rash and history of fever, and provided guidance on the appropriate actions to take when such symptoms are identified.

The session drew the attention of several key figures, including U.S. Ambassador Bryan Hunt, who attended the orientation, and Dr. Juana, Medical Superintendent of Kailahun.

Dr. Juana briefed participants on ongoing partner interventions within the district and emphasized the need for continued support. Other notable attendees included Baindu Agutha Kosia, Country Director of Jhpiego, along with representatives from the Chiefdom and District One Health Risk Communication and Community Engagement teams, as well as Breakthrough ACTION.

This educational initiative was supported by Jhpiego, with funding provided by the American people, underscoring the international collaboration in tackling the Mpox threat in the region.
