In a landmark move to bridge the gender gap in Sierra Leone, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of True Hope Foundation, Patrick Adeyemi Buckle joins President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio and the women of Sierra Leone to push the ‘WeAreEqual Campaign’.

Mr. Buckle was part of dignitaries including first ladies, government ministers, public and private organisations and development partners at the official launch of the Campaign in July this year, at the Freetown International Conference Center.

The ‘WeAreEqual Campaign’ seeks to combat entrenched cultural stereotypes that limit women’s access to healthcare, education, and opportunities.

Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio expressed her joy and gratitude for the Campaign’s launch, emphasising its mission to ensure equality and justice for all. She underscored the importance of respect and dignity for women, urging society to treat women with the consideration they deserve.

Speaking exclusively to AYV, Mr. Buckle congratulated Sierra Leone for joining sixteen other countries in the ‘WeAreEqual Campaign’ and further thanked Sierra Leone’s First Lady for her success in the ‘Hands Off Our Girls’ Campaign, which he believes has significantly improved school retention rates for girls.

He said the ‘WeAreEqual Campaign’ holds significant importance for Sierra Leone, adding that the Campaign marks a significant step toward gender equality and the protection of girls in Sierra Leone.

Patrick Adeyemi Buckle said: “This Campaign aims to create a more inclusive society, ensuring that women and girls receive the respect, opportunities and protection they rightfully deserve”.
