The United States Embassy in Sierra Leone celebrates the graduation of the 16th Frontline and 7th Intermediate Sierra Leone Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) cohorts.

The Embassy in a statement said: “With 28 new trained health professionals, Salone’s public health workforce is stronger than ever. The U.S. Government’s Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) FETP has played a crucial role in rebuilding Sierra Leone’s health system post-Ebola outbreak (2014-2016). Since 2016, over 400 local health professionals have been trained to enhance disease detection and response capabilities”.

The Sierra Leone FETP is key to ensuring sustainable health surveillance and response improvements, contributing to a healthier and more resilient nation. Since its launch in 1980, CDC’s FETP has been a global initiative to strengthen public health systems.

This program equips professionals with essential skills in disease surveillance, data collection and analysis, and outbreak investigation through classroom instruction and hands-on fieldwork.
