Mr George stated that the entire Youyi building is now an eyesore not only to Sierra Leoneans but even with Foreign dignitaries who are constantly paying visit to the building, adding that it is now necessary to take the Youyi building it is used to know to it’s past glory.
He went on to say that this is a big challenge not only with the Ministry of Works and Public Assets but to every Sierra Leonean who can make his or meaningful contribution to help eradicate all the odds happening within this complex.
In her contribution, the Deputy Works and Public Assets Minister, Melrose Kargbo, revealed that the ministry will take the lead to make it possible in seeing that all government assets and public buildings maintain to international standard.
She pointed out that the ministry had received a series of report on theft cases from MDA’s, and that was why they decided to summon such a meeting of all Stakeholders to know which control measures had been put in place for Youyi building complex.
Mrs Kargbo outlined that the entrance way into the building will be from the bus stop angle and exit from the Old Railway line, whilst random cheeking will be done on all vehicles.
She says Facility Management Unit will be created to manage not only Youyi building, but other Government buildings to bring back sanity that could create a peaceful working atmosphere to workers and visitors.
Deputy Minister insisted that any person paying to Youyi building must produce an identification card authorised from the government sector before gaining entrance to the building, emphasizing that the car wash will also be removed from that building.
She pointed out that the ministry is now working modalities to put in place a bidding process for the cleaning, security and the canteen facility which will help with the beautification of the building.
Innocent Migangi Waringu the General Manager of Sub- Sahara Solutions made some clips of the presentation of the Youyi building as it is now and how it will look at after the facelift, whilst Morrison Gboyor the Acting Permanent Secretary in the ministry chaired the meeting.
