Born on February 1, 2001 in Moyamba, Matilda Kamara is a 23-year-old Sierra Leonean runway model, entrepreneur, and beauty pageant contestant. She is currently pursuing a degree in Procurement, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management at the Institute of Public Administration Management. Matilda is currently competing in the Miss University, organised by Africa Young Voices Media Empire (AYV) in partnership with the National Union of Sierra Leone Students (NUSS), set to take place on the 1st December 2023 at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
Matilda Kamara completed her primary and secondary education at Wilberforce Services and later enrolled at Malama Comprehensive Academy, where she completed her senior secondary education.
Growing up, Matilda Kamara dedicated her life to modeling and pageantry. Despite coming from a family and society where many parents see modeling and pageantry as bad career choices for their children, Matilda was able to overcome these challenges and become who she is today. Her greatest inspiration in her modeling and pageantry journey has been her mother. Matilda hopes to become a procurement officer while continuing her modeling career. She started her modeling career in her father’s hometown in Kabala District in 2021. Matilda has excelled in her modeling career, participating in events such as the Eastern Fashion Festival, winning Miss Tonkolili Mines 2022, first position Miss Kanabife 2021 in Kabala, and Runway Model for Eastern FASHION Festival 2021 to 2023. She has also received several certificates in Kono, Makeni, Kabala, and other places.
For Matilda, modeling has had a positive impact on her life. In addition to the money she has earned through competitions over the years, she also bakes cakes for events and is involved in several other businesses.
