Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has instructed the management of tollgates in the country not to allow any vehicle with covered registration plates and/or those without registration plates to pass through.

The ministry has seen the act of vehicles disguising their registration plates as worrisome, noting that criminals may want to use the advantage to perpetrate criminal acts with such vehicles without being noticed.

In addition, security personnel deployed at tollgate have been ordered to impound any vehicle with covered registration plates and also those without registration plates.

It is no secret that lately, many vehicles, especially state vehicles assigned to government officials are plying streets across the country with covered registration plate and/or no registration plates.

Most of these vehicles are sometimes involved in criminal acts and road traffic offences but could not be identified and traced by police.
