Electricity distribution system launched

The launching attracted officials from the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and the African Development Bank among others.

Minister of Energy, Henry Olufemi Macauley, stated that the project aimed to increase energy accessibility in Bo and Kenema, as its one of the priorities of the agenda for prosperity. Speaking at the launching, the Minister expatiated on the importance of energy, as he pointed out that energy influenced every aspect of life, including health, business and the activities of women, especially in cooking and other domestic works.

African Development Bank, Acting Country Manager Khadidia Diabi, said energy happened to be the most important thing in the country. She called on the Ministry of Energy, to accelerate the project implementation process.

British High Commissioner, Guy Warrington, expressed appreciation of the project. Commissioner, Warrington said the project would benefits 54 thousand households in the country.

He also revealed that the aforementioned action will increased the percentage of electricity access within the next two years.
