Team Sierra Leone’s Robot has passed inspection and now qualifies for robotics challenge. Wednesday 26th September 2024, was robot inspection day for all countries that entered for the 2024 First Global Robotics challenge in Athens, Greece.

Team Sierra Leone’s Robot has been inspected and it successfully passed the process meaning that it met all the criteria in terms or design and programming in relation to this year’s theme “feeding the future”.

The Robots are designed and built from a common kit of parts sent by First Global. Team Sierra Leone received their kits in August 2024 and they designed and programed their robot for the challenge. The team is excited and confident to participate in the challenge.

The First Global Challenge is an olympics-style, international robotics competition that takes place in a different country each year. First Global invited each nation to send a team to build and program a robot to compete. Teams work together to complete tasks in a game themed around one of the greatest challenges facing our planet, including the 14 Grand Challenges for Engineering, in an effort to foster understanding and cooperation among the youth of the world as they use their abilities to solve the world’s problems.

From 26-29 September 2024, students from 190+ countries will unite in Athens, Greece. As the home of the ancient and modern Olympics, we are proud to bring the world together in a city with a rich history of international collaboration and global sports.

First Global believes that by making science and technology as exciting as any other sport, we can inspire the world’s two billion youth to pursue STEM fields and be the leaders who collectively solve our planet’s most pressing problems.

Sustainable food production is one of the defining challenges of the 21st century.  This year’s theme challenges First Global teams of students from around the world to learn about and address the obstacles and opportunities to provide the global population with equitable, safe, nutritious, and environmentally responsible food.

Components of the season will highlight the need to simultaneously improve economic, social, and environmental impacts in order to create a truly sustainable food system.
