His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has reappointed Yusuf Keketoma Sandi as Press Secretary at State House, where he is once again expected to oversee the general communication architecture of the Presidency.

Keketoma wrote: “I am incredibly honored and privileged to accept the reappointment as Press Secretary by His Excellency the President. Under his visionary leadership, Sierra Leone is embarking on a promising journey towards progress and prosperity.

“I am fully committed to utilising my skills and expertise in support of the President’s mission to diligently serve the people, drive development, and cultivate a legacy of peace and unity in Sierra Leone.

“Recognising the significant responsibility that accompanies this role as Press Secretary, I pledge to execute my duties with unwavering integrity, professionalism and efficiency. During my tenure as Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education, I had the opportunity to actively contribute to the policy landscape and facilitate a restructuring of the government’s information architecture.

“I extend my deepest gratitude to my esteemed colleague, brother and friend, Minister Chernor A. Bah, for the invaluable bond we shared and the remarkable memories we created. I would also like to express my appreciation to our dedicated team at MoICE for their unwavering support and commitment to public service. Their contributions are immeasurable and I am forever grateful.

“I eagerly anticipate the continuation of my collaborative efforts with journalists, media organisations, social media bloggers, and my esteemed colleagues at the Presidency. Together, we will work tirelessly to fulfill the President’s vision and deliver impactful communication that serves the best interests of the nation. With heartfelt gratitude and renewed enthusiasm, I embark on this journey once again, confident in our collective ability to achieve great things for Sierra Leone under the guidance of our exceptional leader”.

It could be recalled that between April 2018 and July 2023, Keketoma diligently served as Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman to the President, during which his brilliant skills in handling public issues and ability to bring the presidency closer to the people earned him the admiration of many.

After the June 2023 elections, he was appointed Deputy Information Minister, where he also helped to manage and coordinate government information, especially during an extremely critical period. His appointment signifies, once again, His Excellency President Bio’s commitment to young people as integral to nation-building. His reappointment will also contribute immensely to cementing the working relations between the Bio-led administration and the media with the aim of fostering development in Sierra Leone.

A longstanding ally of the President, Keketoma, is renowned for his loyalty and commitment to President Bio’s agenda. He is a people-centred character, who has maintained an open-door policy for everyone. His return to State House will, without a doubt, bring excitement to many, especially the SLPP grassroots.

“Keketoma was brilliant as a Press Secretary and he continued that brilliance as Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education. He is smart, knowledgeable on governance issues, respectful, humble and understands the workings at the Presidency. His reappointment as Press Secretary is a fantastic decision by the President,” a renowned media Practitioner said.
