The National Chairman of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Party, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray has called upon party members to reconcile for the progress of the APC Party.

In a national peace tour in Kono over the weekend, Alhaji Mansaray emphasised the importance of Kono to the progress of the party.

He recalled the relationship between Kono and the APC and their role played beginning 1967, while also calling on all members to prioritise competence and inclusivity over the current division in the party hierarchy.

Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, during the event delivered a powerful and thought-provoking address by drawing on the metaphor of a vehicle to explain the present internal situation within the party, stressed that progress requires capable leadership.

If we have a reckless driver who is unable to drive our vehicle, we must stop that reckless driver and find a competent one,” he declared, underscoring the necessity of ensuring that the party is directed by individuals who are both capable and committed to the APC’s goals.

He further explained that if the person responsible for steering the vehicle is reckless and incapable, he/she must be replaced.

This statement served as a warning against tolerating ineffective leadership in the party, while also signaling the importance of addressing internal challenges with decisiveness.

While expressing disappointment over the recognition of individual factions during the event, the APC Chairman Minkailu Mansaray firmly stated that “the APC must operate as one unified team we should all see ourselves as one team, Team APC.”

He admonished members to put aside ambitions that will divide the party, emphasising that while aspirations are natural, they must align with the broader vision of progress and unity.

He appealed to members to embrace an open-door policy that welcomes all voices and perspectives, creating an inclusive environment where the party can thrive.

Furthermore, the APC Chairman outlined plans for constructing a new party office in the southern region, a project he described as vital for the APC’s continued growth and regional presence.

He also called for a review of the party’s functions to reflect its dynamism and encourage the inclusion of young and energetic members. Importantly, he urged the party to heal the wounds caused by internal divisions and refocus on the collective mission of changing Sierra Leone’s social and political landscape.

In addition, the National Secretary General of the APC Party, Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya delivered a profound and timely call for unity, urging party supporters to prioritise the collective interests of the APC over personal ambitions in the flagbearer race.
