A team of Government Ministers headed by the Chief Minister Jacob JusuSaffa has ended a Conducted tour on an assessment of the Gambia-Mattru Oil Palm Plantation in Mattru Jong, in Bonthe district.

The over 7000 acres of plantation is currently being maintenance by Sierra Organic Palm; a subsidiary of Gold Tree Sierra Leone Limited which government is assuring the need for a public private partnership investment.

Honorable Paramount Chief Alhaji AB Sheriff III of Jong chiefdom in Bonthe district was emphasising the need for privatisation of the Gambia-Mattru Oil Palm plantation which was the key reason for the unrest in the chiefdom.

Eminent among the reasons for the visit, Chief Minister, Jacob JusuSaffa said is to assess the asset and the progress from the capacity project.

During the engagement with visiting team, it was established by various speakers across the district including the District Chairman that Gold Tree has actually helped to restore sanity in the chiefdom.

Minister of Agriculture Dr. Abu Bakarr Karim said they are not against Gold Tree, but however waiting to avert the SahrMalen incidence not to surface in Jong chiefdom.

The visit of these ministers to abreast themselves on the project is a true manifestation of the seriousness government has on his people, but with these inscriptions on the placard of the community people, it speaks volumes of how Gold Tree is transforming lives in the chiefdom.
