Sierra Leone’s to review Home Economics Curriculum

Director of Research and Curriculum Development at the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary, Osman Kamara, has confirmed that the ministry will soon commence the review process of the Home Economics Curriculum.

This curriculum review, according to Director Kamara, will lead to the development of syllabi to teach Home Economics at Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools.

Mr. Kamara was addressing Head Teachers from various Home Economics centers in Freetown, at the Rokel Secondary School Hall. He further revealed that the Ministry will undertake the review process in consultation with some experienced teachers of Home Economics across the country.

Head Teachers from the various Home Economics centers, who were present at the meeting welcomed the news of the Home Economics Curriculum Review.

Representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry at the Meeting, the Ministry’s Deputy Secretary reassured the Home Economics Teachers of the commitment of government to mobilize resources to scale-up the standards of the Home Economics centers across the country.
