Following the fire disaster on November 5, 2021 at Wellington, east of Freetown, it has been confirmed that a grand total of 148 people were killed by the fire.
This was according to the Incident Manager for the November 5 Disaster, Dr. Mustapha Kabba who on Tuesday 23rd November, 2021 revealed to newsmen that of this figure, 84 people were brought to the hospital already dead and 96 were brought alive.
He said currently, 42 people have been treated and discharged whiles 42 are still admitted in various hospitals responding to medications, though 7 people among this number are in critical condition.
Dr. Kabba said burnt management goes beyond just hospital admission and for this, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and its partners have set up a Unit at the Rokupa Government Hospital for discharged patients to be reporting daily for close monitoring and follow up.
This according to Dr. Kabba is because there are some patients who still have minor wounds sustained from the fire that needed daily dressing. He said discharged patients are also required to be visiting the Connaught hospital once a week to be seen by a Consultant.
