Vice President of Serra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has praised the role of the Ansar Islamic Mission in advancing Islamic education in Sierra Leone, describing its founders as “emblematic figures in the Fullah and Muslim community.”
The Vice President made the remarks during Jumah prayers at the Ansar Mosque in Kissy, where prayers were offered for the late Haja Isatu Jalloh, wife of Alhaji Chewtor Jalloh, who passed away on Tuesday, March 18.
“Alhaji Chewtor Jalloh and Late Alhaji Sajalieu Bah established the Ansar mission which has made them emblematic figures in the Fullah and Muslim community for their outstanding contribution to education in Sierra Leone,” he stated.
He also noted that Alhaji Chewtor was recognized with the prestigious Order of the Rokel by President Julius Maada Bio for his contributions.
Founded in the mid-20th century, the Ansar Mission has played a pivotal role in promoting Islamic education and moral values across Sierra Leone. Rooted in the broader history of Islamic learning in the country, which dates back to the 18th century with the arrival of Muslim traders and scholars, the Ansar movement helped establish a network of schools and mosques that provided both religious and secular education to thousands of Sierra Leoneans.
The Jammat expressed their deep condolences to the Jalloh family, praying that “Allah SWT grants her Harjanah Firdaus.”
