Against this backdrop the 50/50 Group recently conducted two days’ training of trainers at the Women’s Leader and Training Institute at Tower Hill in Freetown to capacitate female politicians running for elective positions.

The training comprised of 25 participants, who trained women political candidates with regards to the just-concluded presidential, parliamentary and local council elections on the theme: Empowering Female Candidates for Effective Political Participation in the 2018 Parliamentary and Local Council elections.

Giving an overview of the training, the President 50/50 Group, Fatou Taqi, said the essence of such training was to empower women candidates in the election to be in better position win. She noted that as female politicians there are fundamental elements in politics which they must know in order to make the necessary breakthrough, adding that as women, they should break the traditional barriers between men and women in politics.
